The Melbourne Gastrointestinal Investigation Unit provide a number of treatment & therapy options for Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

These options include:

  • Treatment by injection with the immunomodulator, Methotrexate.
  • Treatment with the biologics: Humira [Adalimumab], Remicade [Infliximab] & Entyvio [Vedolizumab].

As part of your treatment, we:

  • Organise baseline tests.
  • Educate you in: the use of the drug & any potential side effects.
  • Our nursing staff will teach you: to self-administer the injections & safe disposal of the sharps.

 


M.G.I.U. participates in a number of research drug trials for both Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. 


Current research trials are listed below.

  • Adalimumab (Humira) in patients with Ulcerative Colitis (UC)
