Associate Professor Henry Debinski - Director
Dr. Debinski joined Cabrini Health as a practicing gastroenterologist and hepatologist in 1995.

Accomplishments
Dr. Debinski has published extensively, both articles and book chapters about digestive diseases and has spoken internationally.
In 2007 he was appointed Associate Professor.
He remains a principal investigator in clinical trials, researching new therapies in Crohns Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
At Cabrini Health Dr. Debinski is currently the deputy chair of the Human Research and Ethics committee.
Education and Training
Monash University, Alfred and St.Vincent’s Hospitals in Melbourne. This was followed by a 2 year research fellowship at the St.Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research and 3 year appointment at St Mark’s in London in Gastroenterology including a Senior Research Fellowship in cancer genetics with the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (ICRF).
Dr Cathy Sorrell - Gastroenterologist
Dr Sorrell was born and raised in Melbourne and completed her medical degree at Monash University, with resident medical years at Monash Medical Centre. Dr Sorrell joined Cabrini Health in 2005.

Cathy completed her specialist training at Monash Medical Centre and completed a fellowship in Endoscopy and Clinical Gastroenterology at Dandenong Hospital.

NURSING
Nic Carpenter - Nurse & Study Coordinator
Nicola Carpenter completed her Bachelor of Nursing in New Zealand and graduated in December 2001.
Nic has worked in a variety of settings including Assessment, Treatment & Rehab, Medical Nursing, Case Management & Discharge Planning. She has also worked for a short time as a volunteer at the Mulumghat Memorial Christian Hospital in Bangladesh. Nic has been working as a Div 1 Nurse at Cabrini Hospital since 2005 and with MGIU since 2009.
Emily Coupar - Nurse & Study Coordinator
Emily completed her Bachelor of Nursing at the Australian Catholic University in Ballarat in 2000. Emily then completed her graduate year and worked at Dandenong Hospital for 5 years, before spending a year working in London at various hospitals. Upon returning to Australia she commenced employment at Casey Hospital Emergency Department where she worked for 6 years and completed her Master of Nursing through Monash University in 2012. Emily then commenced employment as a Clinical Nurse Educator for Monash Health, teaching staff at Monash Emergency in Clayton and supervising nursing students across all Monash Health campuses. Emily commenced employment at MGIU in July 2014. Emily has a passion for fitness, cooking and fine dining.
LABORATORY
Kate Elmer - Laboratory Technician & Procedural Assistant
Kate began working with MGIU in 2009 as a student, undertaking clinical work placement, as part of her Diploma of Laboratory Technology - Pathology Testing. Following the completion of her studies in 2010 she joined the team in the position of Procedural Assistant; specialising in hydrogen & methane Breath Testing as well as Quantitative Immunoassys for calprotectin and infliximab.
